Army stages massive drills in southeast Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA) – Iranian Army’s Ground Forces’ ‘Prophet Mohammad-4’ military drill is currently underway in an strategic region in southeast Iran in an area covering over 220,000 square km.

Brigadier General Seyyed Kamal Payambari, Deputy for Training of army ground forces and the spokesman for this military drill, told reporters on Sunday that the first day of the war game will include relocating and deploying rapid reaction units via the ground and air from other geographic regions of the country to the intended areas of operation in the shortest time possible. 

“The drills will display the mobility, efficiency, and improved readiness of units in responding to operational needs and any threat, as well as putting the plans and expert educations into practice,” he said.

The three-day exercises will be staged at three tactical phases with the use of state-of-the-art equipment and in an area covering over 220,000 square kilometers near the towns of Nik Shahr and Konarak in this south eastern province.

The drills include participation from various units from Ground Forces, Air Force Support and Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, with Army’s Ground Forces’ Velayat Base at the forefront of the drills.
